Surgery is done!

The celebration pictures. Surgery went well!

Just spoke with the surgeon and everything went well! There were minor amounts of adhesions which is completely normal for cystic fibrosis lungs because of constant infections.
He will be coming to ICU shortly and we will get to see him in about an hour. He will have 6 chest tubes and is on a ventilator. Don't know how long vent will be in, it depends how Jim does.
Lots of tears but they are of JOY and not disappointment this time!!!
Thank you everyone for the prayers and good vibes! And thanks to my FB friends for keeping me entertained and laughing!
I still cant believe this!
Love you all!

  4. Glad he is done. . .it will be tough week or more ahead of him, It might seem like it gets worse before it gets better. He is strong and before you know he will be walking out of that place attached to NOTHING - no more dragging around O2!

I am sending much love your way!

  6. Fantastic news for us to wake up to!! So pleased everything went smoothly. Now comes the hard part!! Like Jamie says, it may be a tough few weeks with lots of little ups and downs and psychological battles, and it's easy to expect too much too soon. Just trust that you'll get there eventually cos it'll be AMAZING! Thinking of you both.

  10. So amazing!!!! This is wonderful news to wake up to this morning! I hope that you have a quick recovery, James and that you start enjoying those new lungs soon!

I also had the cut down the sternum since I had double lung and liver...I really don't think the recovery is any easier, but hopefully it will be for James!
